Want your living room or bedroom to be your fitting room? Well this has become a reality with more retailers adapting the “try before you buy” model. Let’s face it, the retail industry has been experiencing a steady decline of sales throughout the years and brick & mortars will soon be a thing of the past. Retail giant Amazon has blazed the trail for being a one stop shop that provides the ultimate convenience with services like Prime Air, so having the full shopping experience in the comfort of your own home now seems like the natural thing to do.
While some retailers offer the “try before you buy” model completely complimentary, others will allow you to do so with a monthly subscription or a small fee per order, which can be applied to items you keep! This new wave of shopping is definitely worth bypassing long lines, crowded stores, and the commute.
Although not the first retailer to offer this service, Amazon has jumped on board with allowing consumers to try items before purchasing for Prime members. Select at least three items ranging from clothes to accessories for men, women, & children, and you will have seven days to make a decision. Shipping and returns are free and you only pay for what you keep. Prime Wardrobe is currently in beta and by invitation only, but you can sign up to receive notification of the launch, which hopefully will be soon!
Try.com was ahead of its time with its launch two years ago. Try is a Google Chrome extension that allows you to shop any online store and try their items at home for a week before committing. There is an annual commitment of $49, but the service provides a 14-day free trial period.
